The Challenge

With the impending launch of the PlayStation 3, SCEA needed a robust solution for managing the numerous digital images associated with their products. At the start of the project, their images were managed in various directory structures across several network drives and personal computers. Images were often difficult to find and obtain, and once they were, there was no method of telling if the artwork had been approved for usage or not. Images appeared not only in several locations, but in several resolutions and format as well. Tracking master copies was virtually impossible.

The Solution

Online Vitality paired Stellent Site Studio with their Digital Asset Manager tool to create a robust, easy to use web portal for managing all of their images. This seamless integration of two Stellent technologies allowed users "one stop shopping" for all their image needs.

All images were provided in a browsable and searchable format. Digital Asset Manager provided a variety of image types and resolutions, some of which were used to power thumbnail browsing on the site. Contributing and updating content became a snap, thanks to the in-context contribution methods we developed for end users. Managers could provide oversight through a series of in-line tools, and quickly approve new content.

In addition, Online Vitality wrote a custom program that gathered all legacy content from various sources. This allowed all of the existing content to be pulled into the system through Batch Loader and be available for use in the system on Day One.
