The Challenge
The Human Services Agency of the County of San Mateo was very excited to re-implement and re-architect their Intranet with Stellent's Site Studio product. They had successfully built a shell of the site and had many portions of it up an running in development. However, they wanted to include some advanced, custom features to their website and didn't have the in-house knowledge for tackling the problem. Specifically, they wanted a more integrated contribution model for users so that they could provide new content directly from the Intranet.
The Solution
Because of the solid foundation that the County of San Mateo had laid, Online Vitality was able to do a quick assessment of their needs and devised an Intranet strategy that was geared both towards the advanced user contributor features that they desired and quick turnaround time for implementation.
Online Vitality created a variety of custom Site Studio fragments for San Mateo to use. These included content check-in forms, user-sensitive "Add Content" buttons, search widgets, and search results. Each of these fragments was turned into a mini-training session where the code was reviewed and explained to San Mateo staff. Furthermore, Online Vitality worked with Stellent Administrators at San Mateo to identify and configure standard components and server settings for an optimal contribution process.
With this assistance and new knowledge, The County of San Mateo completed and launched their new Intranet ahead of schedule. They have been able to maintain and expand the fragments since launch thanks to the knowledge transfer provided by Online Vitality.
