Canadian Oil and Gas Company

The Challenge

A large Canadian oil and gas company selected the Stellent Content Management System as their solution to web content publishing. The company wanted to address several key concerns, including stronger enforcement of their design standards, consistent navigation elements, a more reliable search engine, and simpler web editing tools.

The Solution

The company needed to begin quickly, but wanted to do so methodically and efficiently. Furthermore, as part of the project, they wanted to include and train their entire team.

Online Vitality immediately began work through the creation of several demos that highlighted possible web publication strategies. With the use of these demos, employees were able to have an informed discussion about how metadata, security, and contribution would work. From these demos, Online Vitality created a series of training exercises that used actual content and scenarios from their existing Intranet.

In parallel, Online Vitality led discussions of security, migration strategy, server configuration, and standards. This allowed the in-house team to get involved with the setup and administration of Stellent. It also provided them the background knowledge they needed to proceed with ongoing development. As a result, we were able to integrate the Stellent security with their existing security infrastructure as well as easily migrate all existing content to the Stellent search index via the Lightly Managed Content component.

In less than two months, this company began full, independent development of their web site. They had a series of strong templates and fragments as a foundation as well as a methodology for migrating their web sites from the current system to Stellent.
